Antoine Tielbeke

Every organisation can become less dependent on its cloud, starting next week.

My talks turn a debate that never ends into steps an engineer can take and a lead can ask for. Everything in them comes from migrations I planned and built myself.

On stage at Open Sovereign Cloud Day at KubeCon Europe, an AI Circle webinar with Rabobank and Rockstars Valley, where it won best presentation. Next up: Mercedes-Benz.

What your audience takes home

  • Know what you can’t afford to lose. Find the data and the systems everything else depends on, and start there instead of debating everything at once.
  • Stop adding lock-in with every new service. One rule for new work: a European provider where you can, open standards where you can’t yet.
  • Test the way out before you need it. An exit nobody has tried is a hope. Make one switch, on a calm day, while everything still runs.

Topics I talk about

Becoming less dependent on American cloud. Portability and exit plans under NIS2 and DORA. European landing zones next to AWS and Azure. Observability with OpenTelemetry. Building with AI when everything has to stay in the EU.

Two talks, ready to book: ‘Not sovereign, but less dependent’ (best presentation, Rockstars Valley 2026) and ‘Progress Over Purity: Sovereignty That Actually Ships’ (Open Sovereign Cloud Day, KubeCon Europe 2026, recording available).
