Built the observability platform used by every engineering team in the organisation.

  • Consolidated three observability backends (Splunk, Dynatrace, CloudWatch) onto New Relic, removing vendor duplication and improving contract leverage.
  • Hardened the organisation-wide OpenTelemetry collector with the team, adding autoscaling on signal ingestion so the single ingestion point held under load.
  • Shipped a shared AWS CDK construct with OpenTelemetry built in, giving roughly half of all backend engineers working observability with no extra effort.
  • Migrated 15+ teams from passive log shipping to intentional observability, changing what teams monitor rather than how much they ship.
  • Built an observability maturity framework, ran team intakes, and delivered hands-on OpenTelemetry and SLO workshops across ARTs.

  • Co-authored the technical vision behind the consolidation and led the migration off OVH, Hetzner and AWS.
  • Migrated around 35 applications onto a single unified Kubernetes cluster.
  • Introduced Logto as the first identity provider for all 38,000 members, with 2FA, and drove SSO/SCIM adoption across GitLab, Antragsgruen, Zammad and the CRM.
  • Contributed upstream to Antragsgruen as an open-source maintainer: a generic SSO plugin, twelve-factor app support and OpenTelemetry instrumentation, all merged.
